I-94 work tops Twin Cities weekend road hassles list

Trying to get out of the metro area this weekend for the fishing opener and or Mother's Day? Take it slow. Here's a guide to some of the Minnesota Department of Transportation's lane and road closures.

Interstate 94, St. Paul to Maplewood.

• Beginning 9 p.m. Friday through early afternoon Saturday, the right lane (local access lane) and all ramps on westbound I-94 between Century Avenue and Mounds Boulevard will be closed.

• Southbound Minnesota Highway 120/Century Avenue from Innovation Rd to I-94 will be reduced to a single lane for about three weeks.

• The following ramps will be closed through mid-summer: westbound I-94 to Mounds Boulevard; southbound U.S. Highway 61/Etna Street to westbound I-94; northbound Highway 61 to westbound I-94; Westbound I-94 to White Bear Avenue.

I-94, Minneapolis to Brooklyn Center

• Beginning 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, westbound Interstate 394 traffic will be shifted onto the HOV reversible lanes with traffic from westbound I-94 to the westbound I-394 ramp.

• The Third Street ramp to westbound I-94 will be closed through May 20. There are several other ramp closures.

• Expect lane shifts and restrictions on eastbound I-94 and westbound I-94 between Shingle Creek Parkway and Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis through the end of 2017

Minnesota Highway 610, Maple Grove

• Beginning 8 p.m. Friday, eastbound I-94 is closed at Highway 610 for pavement repair through 5 a.m. Monday. Maple Grove Parkway remains open to eastbound and westbound I-94.

• Hwy 610 is restricted to a single lane in each direction between Elm Creek Boulevard and I-94 in Maple Grove through June 8.
