Russia: friend, foe or ???

Two Russia experts explore answers to the question, "Is Russia a friend, foe, or something else?" They say the challenges in the U.S.-Russia relationship are acute, the potential for miscommunication is rising, and the stakes are high.

Last week the Minnesota Peace Initiative and Norway House hosted the event, with opening remarks by former State Department diplomat Tom Hanson. He is diplomat-in-residence at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Andrew Kuchins of Georgetown University is senior associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

E. Wayne Merry is senior fellow for Europe and Eurasia at the American Foreign Policy Council.
