This weekend St. Paul will mark the official grand reopening of the Minnesota Capitol after a years-long rehab project. The celebration will include a tour of the Capitol building, yoga on the lawn and a Prince dance party.

In truth, the Capitol in its new form has been open for several months. Lawmakers held their session there this year. But with the session over, a summertime affair was set aside to invite Minnesota to come see the $310 million renovations.

Two guests discussed the history and features of the Capitol. Denis Gardner wrote a new book about the building, "Our Minnesota State Capitol." Marjorie Pearson is an architectural historian and the author of an article in Minnesota History Magazine, "Approaching the Capitol: The Story of the Minnesota State Capitol Mall."
