An autopsy is planned Monday for one of two people from southern Minnesota killed in a weekend boating accident on the Mississippi River that left five others injured.
The body of 47-year-old Kevin Lee Hanson of Mabel, Minn., was recovered Sunday evening after a daylong search. He and 56-year-old Diana Lynn Klankowski of Spring Grove, Minn., were killed in a Saturday afternoon boat crash on a navigation channel in the river.
Authorities say the 32-foot boat struck a concrete marker near a boat landing on the Wisconsin side of the river. Part of the boat was submerged.
The five injured passengers were all from Minnesota.
Officials say the boat had the required number of life vests but they were not in use at the time.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Vernon County, Wis., authorities.
