Today's Morning Edition music is from folk singer and political activist Joan Baez singing "Oh, Happy Day."

Baez opened with this song at Woodstock 48 years ago.

Baez was six months pregnant at the time. She was the final act on the first day of the festival and didn't take the stage until 12:55 a.m.

Over the next two days, some 500,000 people crowded into the small town of Bethel in upstate New York for what became one of the most iconic music festivals in history.
