Today's Morning Edition music is from Elvis Presley with "(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear" which was No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 60 years ago.

A rumor, which wasn't true, circulated that Elvis collected teddy bears, so fans from around the world started sending them to him.

A couple of songwriters also heard that Elvis had a fondness for teddy bears and wrote this song for his second film "Loving You."

On the day after Christmas in 1957, Elvis donated thousands of teddy bears to the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis.
