Photos: The miracle of birth isn't always pretty
Curiosity, awe, disgust — a gamut of emotions run across people's faces at the Miracle of Birth barn at the State Fair.
One of the fair's most popular exhibits, around 200 calves, lambs, goats and piglets are born in public here each year.
Since babies don't arrive on a schedule — some births occur during the night or early morning — all births are taped, and played on big screens inside the barn.
The faces of those watching the live or taped births are almost as interesting to watch as the births themselves.
