Gregg Allman out with a posthumous album

Today's Morning Edition music is from Gregg Allman with "My Only True Friend." It's a track from his final album "Southern Blood."

Allman died on May 27 from liver cancer. He recorded the album at FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, Ala. That's where Gregg and his brother Duane first jammed with the Allman Brothers Band in 1969.

In the liner notes, producer Don Was reports that Allman "spent his final night listening to the latest mixes and closed his eyes knowing that his vision had been realized."

The album comes out Friday.
