Country music's new artist of the year comes to the Twin Cities

Jon Pardi will be performing Friday at the Myth Nightclub in Maplewood.

His appearance in the Twin Cities comes just two days after he was named New Artist of the Year by the Country Music Association.

Pardi grew up in Northern California but says it wasn't until he moved to Nashville that he realized how much he'd been influenced by the Bakersfield sound created by Merle Haggard and Buck Owens. His producer Bart Butler says of Pardi: "He's country. He's got twang for days."
