A closed portion of Interstate 694 in Oakdale will reopen sooner than expected.
After a water main break caused a washout under I-694 last Sunday, forcing the road's closure, repairs are wrapping up.
According to a tweet by the Minnesota Department of Transportation the damaged stretch of road is expected to reopen Saturday morning, with crews finishing work late Friday or early Saturday.
The broken water main appeared to have a slight leak before the break, Oakdale officials said Tuesday. And when it did break it spilled as much as 2 million gallons of water.
