A steady, heavy snow fell Saturday that made roads messy and slow going. More than a third of Metro Transit buses were delayed at 10 p.m. Saturday evening.

Statewide, the State Patrol reported at 8:30 p.m. that there were 140 crashes around the state, including one fatality outside Foley, Minn., and 178 vehicles that spun out or went off the road.

But the lucky ones who didn't have to drive came out to play in the first fresh weekend snow in a while.
