Andersen United Community School in Minneapolis was put in lockdown Thursday in an "abundance of caution" over a "concerning report" that was not substantiated, a school district official said.
Minneapolis Police responded to the building and evacuated students. Slightly more than 100 students in the after-school programs were affected, said Suzanne Kelly, the school district's chief of staff.
Students were sent home on their normal after-school buses.
The school sits in the Phillips neighborhood and is also known as the Hans Christian Andersen school.
Reports of guns and concerns about violence in schools have jumped in the Twin Cities and across the country since the recent high school shooting in Parkland, Fla., where 17 people were killed.
On Tuesday Minneapolis police said an "unauthorized visitor" with a possible gun activated an emergency response at Patrick Henry High School.
On Feb. 21 Orono police arrested a juvenile in connection with a "threat of gun violence" that led to a lockdown of Orono Schools.
