Women throughout history have broken the rules and stepped outside conventional social norms to make history happen. We investigate several women who stand out as the rebels of their time.

A Beautiful World is a solutions journalism news program that focuses on inspirational stories and ideas from around the globe.

"Rebels, Renegades and Wild Women" celebrates Women's History Month with stories of powerful women throughout history: Susan B. Anthony, animal rights activist Dr. Jane Goodall, National Geographic photographer Annie Griffiths, and Geena Davis, Elena Favili and Francesca Cavallo, authors of the "Rebel Girls" series.

Heather McElhatton is the host of A Beautiful World and is a writer and independent producer whose work has appeared on Minnesota Public Radio.

Her commentaries and stories have been heard nationally on This American Life, Marketplace, Weekend America and Sound Money. As a best-selling author, Heather has written several novels, including Pretty Little Mistakes, A Million Little Mistakes, Jennifer Johnson is Sick of Being Single, and Jennifer Johnson is Sick of Being Married.
