Stillwater threw a parade Saturday morning for their state champion girls Nordic ski team, girls alpine ski team, the gymnastics team — oh, and Olympic gold medalist Jessie Diggins.

Diggins, who grew up in Afton and is a graduate of Stillwater Area High School, won the United States' first-ever cross-country skiing gold medal, and people turned out to welcome her home in spite of the weather.

The parade began at the old train depot, now the Zephyr Theater, and ended at the Lowell Park amphitheater, where Diggins and the high school teams were honored with proclamations.

Team USA says training for the 2019 season begins May 1, and Diggins will join the U.S. team at their first camp of the season.
