Search crews recover body from Lake Minnetonka

Divers recovered a body from Lake Minnetonka on Sunday, in the area where a boater went missing Saturday night.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office reported that crews recovered the body near Big Island at about 10:15 a.m. Sunday.

"The body was recovered from the same area that deputies had been searching for a missing boater since yesterday evening," the sheriff's office said in a news release. "The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will make the identification and official cause of death."

The sheriff's office said deputies responded to a 911 call about a boat circling the area with no one on board at about 6 p.m. Saturday. Deputies used sonar equipment to search the area until 4 a.m., then took a break and resumed searching at 7 a.m. Sunday.

The family of the man believed to have been operating the boat was on the scene during the search, authorities said.
