Teen dead in Minnetonka stabbing; police say brother is a suspect

A 16-year-old boy is dead after a stabbing in Minnetonka on Saturday night, and authorities say his 12-year-old brother is a suspect in the incident.

Minnetonka police said in a news release that officers were called to an apartment complex on the 11300 block of Fairfield Road at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday.

"When officers arrived, they found a 16-year-old male with a life-threatening stab wound to the chest," the news release stated. "CPR was initiated, and the victim was transported to North Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police believe the victim's 12-year-old brother used a kitchen knife to commit the stabbing."

Police said the 12-year-old was not injured, and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Other family members were at home at the time of the incident. and authorities said they're working with the family to determine what led up to the stabbing.

The names of the victim and the suspect have not been released.
