A section of southbound Interstate 35E is set to close to traffic Friday and remain closed all weekend as crews work to repair rough joints in the concrete. It may be the biggest new challenge Twin Cities drivers will face this weekend.
The closure runs from the I-35 split in the north metro to Ramsey County Road 96. If weather allows, it's scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Friday, although some on-ramps will close earlier, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The freeway is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
Here's a look at a few of the biggest road construction hassles drivers will face this weekend in the Twin Cities. MnDOT has the full list posted on its website.
