A Minnesota man has been found dead after apparently drowning in a Utah reservoir.

The Wasatch County Sheriff's Office reported Saturday that the body of 24-year-old Benjamin Magalis of Goodhue, Minn., was found in the Strawberry Reservoir southeast of Salt Lake City. The body of a friend Magalis was with, 26-year-old Chenoa Plank of Salt Lake City, was found Sunday.

Authorities said it appears they drowned after their canoe capsized last Monday, though the cause of death remains under investigation. The water temperature was 38 degrees.

The sheriff's office said Plank's father reported the pair missing on Thursday night; he told authorities they were supposed have returned home from a camping trip on Tuesday but never showed up.

Searchers located the pair's canoe on an island, with no one around. Plank's dog was found and rescued by search crews.

The sheriff's office said Magalis and Plank worked at a local ski resort.

"We spent several days with the Plank and Magalis families and have greatly appreciated their strength and kindness," the sheriff's office said in an online statement. "We mourn with them at this difficult time and are grateful for all of those that have volunteered and helped so generously."
