In his State of the State address this week, DFL Gov. Tim Walz used the stories of real people to try to persuade lawmakers to support his plans to increase spending for state transportation projects, classrooms and health care.

But with only about six weeks to go in the legislative session, Walz remains at odds with Senate Republicans over key issues, including health care funding and a higher gas tax.

On the heels of his Wednesday night address, Gov. Walz joined MPR's Mike Mulcahy in the studio to talk about his term so far and how he'll seek agreement with lawmakers on the state's next two-year budget.
