Father suspected in Big Lake fire that killed 2 kids

Two children are dead and two others injured after a fire early Friday in Big Lake, Minn. Authorities say they believe the fire was set by the father of the two children who died.

The suspect, a 36-year-old man, is listed in critical condition after being rescued from the fire and is being guarded by law enforcement at the hospital, the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The siblings who died were ages 1 and 2. Two other children, ages 7 and 9, are hospitalized.

MPR News typically does not name suspects until they are charged. County and state officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
