A Minneapolis man died Sunday morning after being struck by a pickup truck along Interstate 694 in Oakdale.

The State Patrol reported that the 46-year-old man was outside his car on the right shoulder of the northbound lanes of 694 near Stillwater Boulevard, just after 10:30 a.m., when the northbound pickup drifted onto the shoulder and struck the car and the man.

The truck, driven by a 70-year-old Stillwater man, then veered back into traffic and hit another car before going off the right side of the highway and coming to rest in the ditch.

The man who was hit was pronounced dead at the scene; his name has not yet been released. The names and conditions of others involved in the incident also have not yet been released.

The crash forced the closure of the northbound lanes for several hours.
