Suspect arrested in Maplewood shooting that wounded 3

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that injured three people in Maplewood Wednesday.

Two of the shooting victims were minors, including a 12-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy. A 21-year-old man was also shot.

Maplewood police say they arrested a 23-year-old male following the incident that occurred on the 400 block of McKnight Road South. He is being held on suspicion of first-degree assault.

Investigators say they don't believe the incident was random. They plan to present evidence to the Ramsey County Attorney's Office today for consideration of charges. MPR News typically does not name suspects until they are charged.

The victims were taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The incident led to a brief lockdown of the hospital.
