How to boost mask use, vaccine uptake among Minnesota teens

Host John Wanamaker spoke Tuesday with Dr. Nathan Chomilo, a pediatrician and the state’s vaccine equity director, about including masks and vaccines on the back-to-school to-do list.

As of earlier this week, just over half of the state’s 16- and 17-year-olds had gotten at least one shot, with roughly 40 percent of 12- to 15-year-olds having had one.

“We really would like everyone who’s eligible to get their vaccine,” said Chomilo, who also serves as the state’s Medicaid medical director. “Kids still do get sick from COVID-19, and they can get very sick.”
