Woman dies after being found severely beaten in St. Paul; suspect arrested

St. Paul police say a woman died after being found badly beaten in a home in the city early Sunday.

A man believed to be the woman's husband is in custody.

Authorities said they received 911 calls at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

"When officers got to the residence on the 1400 block of Dale Street North, they found a disturbing scene inside — an unresponsive 67-year-old woman who was badly beaten," police said in a news release.

The woman died at the scene.

"A man believed to be the victim's husband was on scene when officers arrived. Officers were able to quickly determine he was the suspect. He was detained and transported to police headquarters to be interviewed by investigators," police reported.

The 66-year-old man was later booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

The woman's name had not been released as of Sunday evening.

It's the second homicide in as many days in St. Paul, and the city's fifth homicide this year.
