Minneapolis Fire department crews have found two people dead inside a residential apartment building more than a day after the fire occurred. 

Officials said they learned Thursday morning that one resident was not accounted for following the blaze that left four people seriously injured. 

After searching through the remains of the collapsed roof, fire crews located the body of an older man. Hours later, searchers reported they found the second body on the fourth floor in the roof collapse rubble. 

The fire department said it will continue looking while it's still light and resume with cadaver dogs in the morning.

The fire at 1501 11th Ave. S. was reported just before 9:45 p.m. Tuesday

, and the first fire crews on the scene found heavy smoke coming from the third floor of the four-story building. 

Fire officials said one of the people who died lived on the fourth floor.

More than two dozen were displaced in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
