St. Paul police say a 12-year-old boy was critically injured after accidentally shooting himself early Monday morning.
It happened on the city’s West Side. Authorities were called to a home on West Congress Street near Stryker Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. on a report of shots fired. They found the injured child, who was taken to Regions Hospital.
Police said the child’s parents did not know where he acquired the gun. Investigators are still working to determine the source of the firearm.
Authorities have not released the child’s name or further details on the incident.
