A Northstar commuter train collided with a vehicle on Friday morning in Coon Rapids.
Metro Transit said it happened around 7:12 a.m. on 119th Avenue Northwest at Northdale Boulevard. Authorities said the vehicle was stopped on the tracks when it was hit. That crossing is equipped with warning lights and gates.
The driver of the car was taken to a hospital. There was no immediate update on their condition, and no reports of any other injuries.
Northstar service in both directions was still suspended as of 11:15 a.m. Friday and replaced with buses as authorities investigated the crash. Metro Transit police and the State Patrol are handling the investigation.
