“Today, Tuesday, August 26th marks exactly 56 years since I tried to impress this girl named Nancy by taking her on a first date to see Johnny Cash at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand Show on Tuesday, August 26, 1969. The plan worked. We married a little over a year later in 1970, and we’ve spent all the years since together in happiness. In 2019, we made a special trip to the State Fair and had our photo taken in front of the Grandstand under Johnny Cash’s photo, just to say, ‘Thank you, Johnny.’”
