Police are investigating the death of an infant on Monday at a child care facility in Savage. Authorities said the death followed a medical incident at Rocking Horse Ranch Childcare, a facility that’s only been open for a little over a year.
The Savage Police Department is working with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension on the investigation and did not give more information about the circumstances leading up to the death.
According to licensing records from the Department of Human Services, Rocking Horse Ranch received several violations in March and, most recently, in June of this year for having hazardous objects that children could reach, damaged or unclean facilities and staff training that did not include all requirements. However, state records show all violations were corrected and approved.
Officials advise families with children at Rocking Horse Ranch to monitor their children and seek immediate medical attention if they exhibit psychological or unusual behavior changes. Police are expected to release more information after an autopsy by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office.
