Pickup truck driver dies after head-on crash with school bus in Anoka County

The driver of a pickup truck died Tuesday morning after colliding head-on with a school bus in the city of Andover.

The bus was heading to Anoka High School with five students aboard. The Anoka County Sheriff's Office said one of the students and the bus driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened just before 7 a.m. along Roanoke Street Northwest near 175th Avenue Northwest. That’s about five miles north of Anoka High School.

The sheriff’s office said the truck with a trailer was traveling north when it crossed the center line and hit the southbound bus.

The man driving the pickup died at the scene; his name has not been released. The injured student and bus driver were taken to a hospital. The other students were picked up at the scene by their parents.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting local agencies with the crash investigation.
