Minnesota Frost to host first game of 2025-26 PWHL season

The Professional Women’s Hockey League on Wednesday announced the schedule for the 2025-26 season.
The first game of the league’s opening weekend features the reigning two-time Walter Cup champion Minnesota Frost. They’ll host the Toronto Sceptres at Grand Casino Arena at 6 p.m. on Nov. 21.
“We are honored to have been scheduled as the first game of the 2025-26 PWHL season,” Frost General Manager Melissa Caruso said in a statement. “Dropping the puck at Grand Casino Arena on opening night means a lot to our group and allows us to set the stage for another competitive season. We are looking forward to the energy and passion we will see in each market this season and cannot wait to get started.”
The Frost’s opener will include a championship banner raising ceremony.

That first day will also see the league’s new West Coast teams play each other. Seattle and Vancouver will play their inaugural game in Vancouver later that night.
The next weekend, the Frost will make their first visit to the West Coast as the opponent for PWHL Seattle in the expansion team’s home opener at Climate Pledge Arena on Nov. 28.
The two expansion teams will make their first visits to Minnesota in January. Seattle will play the Frost on Jan. 11 and Vancouver will debut on Jan. 28.
“It’s really exciting to see that women’s hockey is garnering so much attention. With the league adding two new teams, a bigger platform for the players to showcase their talents is so deserved,” Frost Head Coach Ken Klee said in a statement.
The PWHL’s third season will feature more games than the first two seasons, thanks in part to the two new teams. The season will have a total of 120 games –– up from 90 games last season and 72 games in the inaugural season. All teams will play 30 regular-season matchups for the second straight year.
