Authorities in Iowa arrested a man Sunday afternoon, after he allegedly shot and killed two people in southern Minnesota hours earlier.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the fatal shooting happened just after 4 a.m. Sunday in Hanska, about 25 miles west of Mankato. A juvenile witness called 911 and said his mother’s ex-boyfriend broke into the house and shot his mother.
Law enforcement officers who responded to the scene found a 32-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man at the home, dead from gunshot wounds.
Authorities began a search for a suspect, who they said was considered armed and dangerous, and may have fled the state.
The sheriff’s office later reported that the 45-year-old man was arrested in Iowa just after 4 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities have not released the names of the two victims. The suspect has not yet been charged.
