Local and state law enforcement officials say they’ve made arrests Friday afternoon amid a protest outside the Whipple Federal Building near Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
The protest is against the ongoing federal immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota. The building is a base of operations for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other agencies and been a focal point of recent protests.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office reported just after noon that protesters were blocking an access road and that ice chunks thrown at vehicles had broken windows.
The sheriff’s office and the Minnesota State Patrol said they gave dispersal orders and that some people were arrested.
