Gov. Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison plan to discuss the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti and efforts to rein in ICE in Minnesota at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Pretti, 37, was fatally shot by a U.S. Border Patrol agent Saturday morning. The shooting took place near 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis. Pretti was an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital.
Walz called the federal account of events "nonsense" and "lies." He said Minnesota's justice system "will have the last word." DHS claims Pretti was armed and resisted; local officials confirm he had a legal permit to carry. Video shows no indication that Pretti brandished the weapon.
