Hennepin County 911 dispatchers, EMTs face 'breaking point' amid ICE surge, union says

The small, local union representing Hennepin County’s 911 dispatchers and emergency medical technicians said Monday the federal immigration enforcement surge in the Twin Cities is “pushing our emergency medical system past the breaking point.”
The federal presence “has caused a steep increase in calls for service,” the Hennepin County Association of Paramedics and EMTs,” said in a statement.
“Community members are afraid to seek medical attention while deteriorating at home, protesters are being subjected to pepper spray and tear gas, and our partners in local law enforcement are struggling to co-respond on potentially dangerous calls,” the group said.
