Several people were arrested during a protest against federal immigration agents Monday night at a hotel in Maple Grove.

It happened at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott in the Arbor Lakes area. Maple Grove police said that what started as a peaceful protest “escalated when individuals in the crowd engaged in unlawful behavior. Property damage occurred, and objects were thrown at officers.”

Protesters who didn’t comply with a dispersal order were arrested. County and state agencies assisted Maple Grove police at the scene.

The protest in the Minneapolis suburb happened on the same day that sources reported Border Patrol commander at large Greg Bovino and some other federal agents would soon be leaving Minnesota.

It’s not clear whether Bovino or other agents were staying at the hotel in Maple Grove.

On Sunday night, federal agents deployed tear gas against protesters at a hotel in Minneapolis.
