The Hennepin County Medical Examiner on Monday issued an initial, public report on the death of Alex Pretti — saying he died from multiple gunshot wounds and classifying his death as a homicide.

That finding from the medical examiner only means that Pretti died at the hands of another person. It does not imply that Pretti’s death was criminal in nature. Whether anyone is charged in the death will be up to investigations still underway.

The report also said an autopsy was performed but did not provide any further details.

Pretti was fatally shot by federal agents on Jan. 24 near 26th and Nicollet in south Minneapolis. The medical examiner’s report says he was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner also classified the death of Renee Macklin Good — who was fatally shot by a federal agent on Jan. 7 — as a homicide.
