Edina police say one person is dead after a shooting Wednesday. The suspected shooter has still not been apprehended as of Wednesday afternoon, according to Edina police. 

“When officers arrived they found one victim with a gunshot wound,” Edina Police Chief Todd Milburn said Wednesday afternoon at a press conference on the scene. “Despite lifesaving measures, the victim died. The suspects ran away from the scene before officers arrived, and officers are still following up on leads.”

Edina Police are asking people to avoid part of the city near Southdale Center Wednesday afternoon. 

Police arrived on the scene around 12:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of W. 66th Street.

A number of local businesses went into lockdown at the request of local police.

They’re urging the public to stay clear of the area until further notice.
