A train derailed early Saturday morning near Henderson, the second train derailment in the state this spring.

Eight cars of the Union Pacific train derailed around 2:40 a.m. near Highway 19 and Henderson Station Road in Tyrone Township just east of Henderson, according to the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office. It follows a late-March Canadian National Railways derailment near Warroad that resulted in authorities 

Union Pacific told police the cars were carrying liquid methane, propane and grain. Neither the methane nor propane leaked, though some grain spilled out.

Le Sueur County Sheriff Brett Mason said there were no injuries nor response needed from fire or emergency medical services. Mason asked the public to avoid the area.

Union Pacific spokesperson Jill Micek said the company is already on-site cleaning up and investigating the cause.
