St. Paul police continue to investigate after two people were injured by gunfire Monday evening in the city’s downtown, not far from the busy St. Paul RiverCentre.
According to an initial account from the police department, callers to 911 reported shots fired at about 5:30 p.m. Monday along Kellogg Boulevard near the convention center. Responding officers reported hearing “active gunfire” in multiple locations near RiverCentre — and also a block away near Rice Park and the Ordway Center.
Officers found two young men with what police said were non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Three other people — identified as possible suspects — were taken into custody nearby a short time later.
As of Tuesday morning police had not released additional details on what led up to the gunfire, saying it remains an active investigation.
