New power line project to bring more North Dakota wind energy to northern Minnesota

Duluth-based utility Minnesota Power broke ground on Tuesday on a $900 million project to upgrade a 50-year electric transmission line that transports wind energy from North Dakota to northern Minnesota. The project includes the construction of converter stations at both ends of the line, including here in Solway Township, outside Duluth.
