‘Unhealthy’ air quality expected in eastern Minnesota through Monday afternoon due to wildfire smoke

Officials issued a new air quality alert Saturday that included most southeastern Minnesota counties due to heavy smoke from wildfires in the northeast part of the state.

Albert Lea, Rochester, Winona, Two Harbors, Hibbing, Ely and Duluth are all included in the alert as are the Tribal Nations of Prairie Island, Grand Portage and Fond du Lac.

Air quality is expected to be unhealthy for everyone in this region.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency advised everyone in the area to limit outdoor exposure and activity.
