Wildfire smoke has expanded an issued air quality alert for northeastern and southern Minnesota to Mankato and the Twin Cities.
Unhealthy air may cause irritated eyes, nose and throat, coughing, chest tightness or shortness of breath. Anyone experiencing symptoms should seek medical attention and reduce their time outdoors.
The air quality alert, issued by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency runs through 11 a.m. Monday.
Areas currently under air quality alerts include the Twin Cities metro area, Albert Lea, Rochester, Winona, Mankato, Two Harbors, Hibbing, Ely, Duluth and the Tribal Nations of Prairie Island, Grand Portage and Fond du Lac.
