State and federal officials briefed reporters at 1 p.m. on the state of battling wildland fires in northeastern Minnesota.
Recent rain has helped the fight but evacuation orders and wilderness closures remain in place on the Fernberg and Echo Trail roads near Ely. The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness remains closed through at least Friday.
