‘Unhealthy’ air quality expected in eastern Minnesota through Monday afternoon due to wildfire smoke

The U.S. Forest Service will reopen more entry points into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness on Tuesday.

The Forest Service said it will reopen all water access entry points on the Gunflint Ranger District and Tofte Ranger District for overnight use.

That includes Magnetic Lake and Larch Creek entry points as well as overnight motor access for Saganaga and Seagull lakes.

Three entry points – Little Indian Sioux River North, Sioux-Hustler Trail and Stuart River – will remain closed through the end of the permit season on Sept. 30.

The Forest Service cautioned that restrictions could change based on wildfire behavior and patterns.
