Authorities say they believe the deaths of three people found at a home in Inver Grove Heights on Sunday were a double murder-suicide.
Police called it a “deeply tragic and heartbreaking event” for the community in the southern Twin Cities metro area.
In an update Tuesday, Inver Grove Heights police said preliminary findings from the investigation indicate 43-year-old Jamie Lee Charles and 19-year-old Willie Shaw Jr. were killed by 22-year-old Jaymison Shaw, who then took his own life.
Family members said Jamie was the mother of Willie and Jaymison. Authorities said they were found by officers conducting a welfare check, but have not released further details on what happened.

Jamie Charles was a nurse. Her son Willie was a 2025 graduate of Simley High School. In a social media post, the Simley boys basketball program remembered him as “a friend, a teammate, and someone who made an impact on the people around him. His connection to Simley continues through the many students and friends who had the privilege of knowing him and who carry his memory with them today.”
An online fundraiser is raising money to help the family with funeral and memorial expenses.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. The department said it “recognizes the profound grief this incident has caused for the community, especially for the family and loved ones of those involved. We ask the community to give those impacted by this tragedy the privacy, care and assistance they need in the days and weeks ahead.”
