Two brothers from Texas have been sentenced to prison on federal robbery charges after holding a Minnesota family at gunpoint last year while robbing them of $8 million in cryptocurrency.

Brothers Raymond Christian Garcia and Isiah Angelo Garcia — ages 24 and 25 — each pleaded guilty in June to a count of interference with commerce by robbery and were sentenced on Thursday. Raymond Garcia received a 15-year sentence, while Isiah Garcia was sentenced to 15 1/2 years in prison.

In a news release, U.S. Attorney for Minnesota Daniel Rosen said the brothers “committed a brazen and calculated act of violence against the victim and his family.”

The incident happened in September 2025 in Grant, near the Twin Cities. Prosecutors said the brothers ambushed a man outside his home and forced him back inside with his wife and adult son. The brothers restrained the family and held them hostage for hours, forcing the victim to log into his cryptocurrency accounts and transfer millions to the brothers.

When the suspects learned additional funds were stored at a family cabin three hours away, Isiah Garcia allegedly drove the victim there at gunpoint to retrieve them, while his brother remained behind with the hostages.

The victim’s son eventually was able to call 911. The Garcias fled but were tracked to Texas and later arrested.
