Minnesota lawyers are donating their time to draft wills and health care directives for firefighters, police, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and corrections officers.
Former U.S. Attorney in Minnesota Tom Heffelfinger told a group of lawyers Thursday that something is fundamentally broken at the U.S. Justice Department.
Alberto Gonzales' Justice Department had considered dismissing one in four of the nation's U.S. attorneys, according to a report in the Washington Post. The Post reports former Minnesota U.S. Attorney Tom Heffelfinger was on the list. In response to the developments, Republican Sen. Norm Coleman of Minnesota joined the calls for Gonzales' resignation.

Senior Justice Department officials had raised
concerns about Tom Heffelfinger, the former U.S. attorney for Minnesota, according to a source close to the agency. Heffelfinger, however, reiterates that he was not pressured to resign.
Jerome P. Cross, 17, of St. Paul, was charged in Ramsey County District Court with second-degree murder in the death of Earl Freeman, 16. The shooting occurred on a Metro Transit bus in downtown St. Paul early Sunday.
