Canadian border communities sandbagging to hold back flooding

Residents in northern Minnesota along the Canadian border are scrambling to keep rising waters at bay. Rainy River is up nearly 10 feet since the beginning of the month, pushing this flood past a record set in 1950. MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Adam Claybundy, who's the fire chief of Loman, a small community just west of International Falls.

Crews rescue capsized boaters on Lake Minnetonka

Sailboats capsized in Lake Minnetonka late Saturday morning, leaving sailors stranded on their boats and in the water. Everyone has been accounted for, but rescue workers will continue to scour the bays of the lake, to check in on area boaters.

Pilot dead in Lake Superior crash was German citizen

The plane took off from Duluth International Airport Saturday morning and went off radar over the lake. The plane's fuselage was located about 140 feet below the lake surface. A commercial dive team was called in to recover the body.
