President Donald Trump lost the election. But you wouldn’t know that by following his Twitter feed or listening to the GOP leadership.

Instead, the president has refused to concede and continues to make baseless claims about massive voter fraud. And while his wall of support is starting to crack, many Republican leaders are standing behind their man.

Election experts say Trump’s legal strategy is destined to fail. But they worry that Trump and his high-level supporters could cause real harm to our democracy moving forward, should millions of Americans believe Trump’s false statements that Joe Biden only won the presidency through fraud.

Tuesday at 9 a.m., MPR News host Kerri Miller discussed this quagmire with two political strategists. Will Trump’s influence on the GOP linger even after his presidency ends?

Guests:

  • Liam Donovan is a Republican strategist and consultant.

  • Ryan Enos is a social and political scientist at Harvard University.
